Arne Slot Maintains He Feels Safe and Has The Club's Support Following PSV Humiliation

Arne Slot acknowledged that it was understandable for doubts to be raised about his future after a further heavy defeat versus the Dutch champions.

The Reds suffered their ninth loss in twelve games, representing the team's poorest run after being relegated in 1953-54.

They were outplayed by the Dutch league title holders on a punishing night at Anfield.

“I am feeling safe, things are alright, I've received significant backing from management,” Slot remarked.

“It would be nice to turn it around and get a victory obviously but if you are coaching a team and not doing well then it's typical that questions are asked.”

He noted, “I accept my position. This isn't the first time I've found myself in a difficult position but it's necessary that we changed our fortunes.”

Conversations with Club Management

When asked to elaborate on his discussions with the Liverpool hierarchy, Slot said:

“There's regular dialogue. They assist for the squad and to me and those talks happen but they aren't calling me constantly each day to say they trust me.”

He added, “During our regular discussions I perceive the belief. But I've not talked to them since this game yet so let’s see.”

Persistent Issues and Player Reaction

The manager highlighted known shortcomings from his Liverpool side in their Champions League defeat, namely poor finishing and defensive lapses.

Meanwhile, player Curtis Jones was more direct in his assessment of the current crisis.

“I haven't got the solutions. Honestly, I don’t. I’m saying that to everyone,” the midfielder said.

“It is unacceptable. I don’t even have to wait to think about it. I'm beyond getting mad internally. I've reached the stage now where I just don’t have the vocabulary.”

He added, “It's tough because I’m playing for the team I support. I'm a supporter, and I’ve seen Liverpool all my life.”

“In a long, long time, I've not seen a Reds side enduring a period such as this with results so bad.”

He finished, “However we still have the emblem on our shirts. And as long as that badge is gone, we’re always going to battle.”

“Our aim is to help the side back to the top, demonstrate to all once more the values of this club and why it's known as the greatest side in the planet.”

“However currently, we’re in the shit and it needs to change.”
