England Bowling Consultant Tim Southee Uncertain on The Ashes Participation

Tim Southee

Tim Southee's most recent Test for the Kiwis was against the English side in the final month of 2024.

England bowling consultant Tim Southee is currently evaluating what his involvement will be during the forthcoming Ashes contest in Australia.

The ex- New Zealand seamer is only likely to be present for the opening match due to his involvement in the International League T20 competition, which begins on 2 December in the United Arab Emirates.

Southee, aged 36, assumed a role as the English team's fast bowling consultant in the warmer months after taking 391 scalps in 107 Tests for New Zealand.

Speaking as England's team for the first of three T20 matches against the Kiwis was named, he said of his participation: "We are still evaluating the situation at the present time.

"We'll see what happens over the coming days."

English bowling legend Broad had stated the Australian side as their "worst team since 2010", but the consultant was in little doubt over what to expect during the contest, which begins on November 21.

"I don't think there's at any time a poor Australian cricket team," he remarked.

"The team's attention is firmly on our own objectives. I think the caliber of [the English] side that's heading out to the host country is excellent.

"It ought to be an absolute cracker, the Ashes. Not only [are|do] fans from both nations looking forward to it, I believe the entire cricketing community is."

However, before the English team head to the city of Perth for the first Ashes match, they take on New Zealand in Christchurch on this Saturday.
