Fans Call for Detainment of Man Who Grabbed Ariana Grande
Passionate fans of the pop star are calling for that a individual who leaped a barrier and seized the celebrity during Thursday's Wicked: For Good debut be taken into custody or removed from Singapore.
A circulating footage depicts the individual from Australia pushing past media personnel and charging at Grande while the cast walked down a yellow carpet accompanied by fans.
Fellow actress Cynthia Erivo promptly wrested the surprised star away from Mr Wen, who was spotted being led away of the event by event staff.
Mr Wen posted on Instagram Thursday evening that he was "released after being detained", though legal records showed that he was set to attend court on Friday morning. It is unknown if he was formally accused.
Pattern of Disruptions
This is not an isolated incident for Mr Wen, who labels himself a "Troll Most Hated", has disrupted a performance. His Instagram account contains recordings of him disrupting other high-profile occasions, including jumping on stage at the pop singer's Sydney show in recently and in a like fashion during The Chainsmokers concert in the area last winter.
"Steps should be implemented applied against him as this is obviously a legal violation," stated an Instagram user, in a response to a video Mr Wen shared of his actions.
"This appears to be a habit... why are you not imprisoned?" one Instagram user remarked.
Fans Express Concern Over Grande's Well-being
Many fans criticized Mr Wen for "triggering past anxiety" Grande, who had revealed dealing with post-traumatic stress disorder after a terrorist explosion at the finale of her 2017 concert in Manchester, killing 22 people and wounding hundreds.
"The star has endured numerous terrifying experiences... including the Manchester tragedy, and you believed breaching security was amusing?" said a further message on Instagram.
Several fans also criticised security officers at the Thursday event for not being sufficiently alert; while different individuals requested digital services to block Mr Wen's uploads.
Reaction and Event Details
In videos spreading on the internet, Grande looked surprised when she was approached by the man. Her cast members Michelle Yeoh and Erivo can be observed consoling her while Mr Wen was led out by staff.
Grande has not issued a statement on the incident, and the rest of the event carried on uninterrupted.
Many of attendees had congregated in a crowd of green and pink at the Wicked: For Good regional debut in a Singapore shopping center, including some who had waited for as long as a significant duration before it began.
The film, to be premiered on 21 November, is the follow-up of a two-part adaptation of the well-known stage show Wicked, which centers on the unlikely relationship between two distinct witches.
The musical itself is a derivative of the classic children's novel The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
Grande, who acts as the character Glinda Glinda, was adorned in a champagne pink sparkling outfit at the premiere while Erivo, who portrays the villainous character, wore a black tube gown embroidered with roses.
They were joined by cast member Jeff Goldblum.
The previous installment, Wicked, was the top-earning motion picture of last year in the UK, and received ten Academy Award nods, earning a pair for outstanding attire and set decoration.
