Football Analyst Chris Sutton Takes On Singer Olly Murs in Top Flight Forecasts
The Gunners' 10-game victorious streak came to an end by Sunderland prior to the global break, but will the Premier League frontrunners recover against north London rivals Spurs this Sunday?
"{I feel like Arsenal are light years ahead of Tottenham at the moment but Spurs boss Thomas Frank will have a plan for this game," stated soccer expert Chris Sutton.
"Frank will attempt to nullify Arsenal, who have not always been at their scintillating best this campaign - but Mikel Arteta's side usually still find a way to win."
Sutton is forecasting results for all 380 Premier League fixtures this season, against AI, readers and a range of guests.
For week 12, he faces singer Olly Murs, who is a United supporter.
Murs' latest album, Knees Up, is available on the weekend.
Soccer and Family Experiences
Murs is a talented footballer as well as a successful singer and has been a featured player of several charity football games down the years - but he is not intending a professional comeback as a player.
"{I actually played in a benefit match the other evening for a friend of mine," he explained. "My side was trailing 3-1 when I came off in the second half, and they went on to win 4-3, so you can interpret that what you want!
"I continue to love football, but I injured my knee a few years ago and it even now isn't where I want it to be. I wish I could play more but the uncertainty of the game means it's too risky for me in my profession to do it properly again.
"Additionally I am 41 now, and we are not all Cristiano Ronaldo, are we!? No, I am very content not playing football and I am gearing up for the time that my child or son decides to play instead."
Murs and his wife Amelia Tank have a young family, their daughter and their son, and he is prepared to emulate his dad by becoming their manager.
"I will not push football on our kids but I've already told Amelia that if they happen to get the passion for it then I will have to go and get my manager qualifications - and I will likely be coaching their Saturday soccer side," he added.
"I watched my nephews play a lot, and I truly got into it, and I obviously owned a soccer team for a period too.
"My father did it with us when I was a child, which is likely where I get it from. He coached our team for several years and had a wonderful time with it. That could be the future for me as well, and I am excited to it!"
Top Division Predictions
Saturday, 22 November
- Turf Moor, 12:30 GMT
Chelsea may have to wait a bit longer for their star's return from injury but their attack is already more potent with Joao Pedro and Delap both returned to fitness.
In my opinion this fixture will be fairly close, however. Burnley are disciplined and their only at Turf Moor losses so far have been against Liverpool and Arsenal.
This suggests a one-all tie to me, but I am in fact going to choose the London side to edge it for what would be their third Premier League win in a row.
Sutton's prediction: 1-2
The singer's prediction: Chelsea will be superior. 1-3
AI's prediction: 0-2
- Vitality Stadium, 15:00 GMT
The Cherries have lost their previous couple matches - albeit both of them were on the road - but they got absolutely spanked by Aston Villa last time out which surprised me.
In contrast, West Ham won two in a row before the international break and, although both of those fixtures were at their stadium, they appear competitive again.
West Ham's sole on the road victory this season came at Forest in the summer, when their boss Nuno was previously that team's coach.
So, what on earth do I predict here - will it be the Hammers continuing their streak under Nuno, or the home side responding?
I am going to choose the Cherries, because I think what happened against Villa was a anomaly.
The pundit's prediction: 2-0
The guest's prediction: The home team are performing strongly but West Ham have picked up under their boss. 2-2
AI's pick: 1-1
- Amex Stadium, 15:00 GMT
The Bees were considered one of the favourites for the drop before the campaign started, but they have impressed a few people under their manager and are in fine fettle with three wins in their past four matches.
A family member advised me to select Brentford forward Igor Thiago in my Fantasy Football team a few weeks ago and, unfortunately, I didn't listen.
Thiago will likely find the net again on the weekend but I am still not going to pick him or support the away side at Brighton's ground.
The Bees have not had great success on the road this season, and the Seagulls are consistently strong at home. Brentford will try to attack on the counter-attack but I think the home manager's side pose much more of a danger.
The analyst's forecast: 2-1
The singer's prediction: This could be one of those games where you think there is going to be a many scores but it in reality proves to be rather tight. 1-1
AI's outcome: 2-1
- Craven Cottage, 15:00 GMT
It is a massive fixture for the Cottagers, who have lost five of their past six games.
They have got plenty of talent in their team but it still feels like they could be sucked into a drop zone fight.
Regarding the Black Cats, indeed they are the unexpected success of the top flight campaign so far.
Their display in the 2-2 tie with the Gunners last time out was superb. We have not seen any other team rough up the Gunners like that this term, and Sunderland were fully competitive for them.
The logical choice to do to support the Black Cats here, because they are obviously capable of roughing the hosts up too and, the previous occasion they were in west London, they defeated the Blues at the close of October.
But I am not going to do that. Rather, I truly need to carry on opposing the away team with my forecasts. I am claiming a lot of credit for their good outcomes because they clearly enjoy to defy my predictions.
Considering Fulham's home record, the only side they have been defeated by is Arsenal. Marco Silva's side will be extremely eager for a good outcome, so I am going to predict they will secure three points.
Sutton's forecast: 1-0
Olly's choice: I know Sunderland are performing strongly and additionally that the hosts are on a poor run... but they have nonetheless been respectable at Craven Cottage this season. 2-0
AI's outlook: 2-0
- Anfield, 15:00 GMT
This is a hard fixture to call. Liverpool have lost seven of their last ten games in all competitions, but might they be among the sides who profit from the {international break|
