Former Doctor Accused of Sexual Assault Charges Involving Thirty-Eight Patients
Prosecutors have announced that a ex- doctor now faces charges for committing assaults against thirty-eight individuals who were under his care.
The Serious Allegations
The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham is accused of dozens of acts of sexual assault – including some against minors under the age of thirteen – spanning the period from 2017 to 2021.
A senior prosecutor stated, “Legal teams have diligently worked to support a thorough and intricate police inquiry, meticulously examining the available evidence to establish that there is sufficient evidence to proceed to trial and that it is in the public interest.”
The Police Inquiry
These allegations follow what police called a “detailed inquiry” into alleged assaults at two hospitals: a hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and a facility in Dudley.
The defendant is due to appear at the local magistrates' court on January 20th.
List of Charges
The charging documents said the forty-five charges he is charged with:
- 15 counts of assault.
- Seventeen counts of assault by penetration.
- 9 counts of assault on a minor under thirteen.
- Three counts of assault of a child under 13 by penetration.
- One count of attempted penetrative assault.
