Iran Claims Attack on American Facility in the Kingdom of Bahrain, As Part of Widespread Retaliatory Strikes.
Tehran reports attacking a American military facility in Manama, as the country executed operations across the region in retaliation for a large-scale and ongoing assault against it by the United States and Israeli forces.
Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an vicinity near the headquarters of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The full scale of any damage is unclear and the United States has not commented.
Missile Defenses Activated
Elsewhere across the region, the United Arab Emirates, the State of Qatar and Kuwait - which all house American military installations - stated they have engaged and destroyed missiles in their territorial skies.
In the Qatari capital, the Qatari Ministry of Defence announced it had intercepted a number of projectiles seemingly aimed at the al-Udeid air base, the biggest US military installation in the region.
Operation "Truthful Promise 4"
Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) stated it was striking American facilities and interests as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in retaliation for the strikes on the Islamic Republic launched by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday.
That US-Israeli operation - initiated at around 06:15 GMT - has so far focused on areas linked to the Tehran's leadership, with President Trump urging the people of Iran to revolt against the leadership.
Regional Fallout
In Israel, air raid sirens sounded across the country after the Israeli military said it had identified an barrage of missiles from Iran.
The defence ministry of the United Arab Emirates stated that the country has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"Emirati air defenses responded to the projectiles with great effectiveness and destroyed a several projectiles," it added.
It said missile fragments landed in a populated district in the capital, resulting in some structural damage and fatalities.
The US Air Force is stationed at Al Dhafra Air Base, to the south of the Emirati capital, along with the Emirati Air Force.
