Multiple passengers and crew sustained injuries when a Delta aircraft originating in LA to Sydney was hit by significant turbulence this past Friday.
Delta Flight 41 "went through a short bout of rough air" as it landed at the Sydney airport, a company official informed. Four flight attendants sustained injuries.
Local paramedics said they assessed a total of five people, and transferred three to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries that such as pain in the back and migraines. Those affected ranged from their 30s up to the 70s.
It is the most recent case of aircraft experiencing turbulence, with researchers pointing out that global warming is a key driver.
The aircraft was carrying 245 people and a crew of 15 on the Airbus A350, the official added, clarifying that the plane landed "safely and normally" at the airport at 06:48 local time on the day in question.
